Switch from OpenPhone to CallRoute

Keep your numbers, keep your customers. Here is how teams move from OpenPhone to CallRoute without missing a call.

How the move works

  1. 1

    Create your workspace

Sign up, pick a plan and take a new number for each teammate. You can call and text from it right away while your old numbers move over.

  2. 2

    Get your port details

Ask your current provider for the account number and transfer PIN on the account, and download a recent bill. Carriers check these to approve the move.

OpenPhone can share the account number and transfer PIN for your numbers. Check your workspace billing settings or ask their support team.

  3. 3

    Start the port in CallRoute

Open Numbers, choose Bring a number, enter the details and attach the bill. It costs $5 per number, one time, and is refunded if the number does not arrive.

  4. 4

    Set up menus and hours

Recreate your phone menu, business hours and voicemail greetings. Most teams finish this in under an hour.

  5. 5

    Cancel the old account last

Keep your old account open until CallRoute shows the number as active. Cancelling first can release the number and lose it for good.

Can I keep my OpenPhone number?

Yes. US and Canadian local numbers can be moved to CallRoute today, and toll-free numbers are coming soon. Your number keeps working on OpenPhone until the move completes, so calls are not dropped.

How long does a number port take?

Most ports finish in one to two weeks. Carriers accept a date at least 7 days out, and you can see the status of every number in CallRoute while you wait.

What does it cost to switch?

Moving a number in costs $5 per number, one time, paid from your CallRoute wallet. If the number does not arrive, the $5 is refunded.
