Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated October 6, 2026
This policy is part of our Terms of Service. It explains how CallRoute may be used so the people you call and text can trust your number, and so carriers keep delivering your calls and messages. It applies to everyone in your workspace.
1. Consent and opt outs
- Only text people who gave you permission to text them, or who texted you first.
- Marketing texts need the written consent the Telephone Consumer Protection Act requires. Keep a record of when and how each person agreed.
- When someone replies STOP, CallRoute stops texting them from that number automatically. Do not try to get around an opt out, for example by texting from another number.
- Do not make marketing calls to numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry or your own do not call list unless the law allows it.
- Send marketing texts only between 8 AM and 9 PM in the time zone of the person you are texting.
2. What you cannot send
Carriers do not allow these on business numbers, so CallRoute refuses them:
- content about sex, hate, alcohol, firearms or tobacco aimed at people who are not verified adults;
- cannabis, illegal drugs, payday loans, debt relief, cryptocurrency offers, gambling and adult content;
- phishing, fake prizes, fake delivery notices or anything meant to trick people;
- links through public link shorteners, links to bare IP addresses and look alike web addresses. Use your own domain instead.
3. Sensitive information
Do not ask for or send card numbers, security codes, Social Security numbers, bank account details, passwords or sign in codes by text. On calls, asking for card details is allowed only after your workspace is approved for card payments on calls from Settings, Safety. We mask these details in texts and transcripts, and we remove spoken card details from recordings. Breaking this rule leads to a warning and then a pause.
4. Calling
- No robocalls, prerecorded marketing calls or auto dialers without the consent the law requires.
- No caller ID spoofing. Calls go out from numbers in your workspace.
- No dialing through ranges of numbers, traffic pumping, or calls placed to earn money from the call itself.
- Calls and texts reach numbers in the US and Canada, and the countries we list once international is turned on for your account. International texts follow the same rules as any other text. Premium rate numbers cannot be reached.
5. Limits for new workspaces
New workspaces start with daily limits on texts, calls to outside numbers, calls at the same time and spend. The limits grow after the first week and again after the first month when use is clean. You can see your limits and ask for higher ones in the app under Settings, Safety.
6. Your account
- Each seat is for one person. Do not share sign in details.
- Do not resell CallRoute minutes, numbers or texting.
- Do not probe, overload or try to get around the security of the Service.
7. What happens if the rules are broken
Most problems get a warning first. Repeated or serious problems pause texting, calls to outside numbers and new numbers while we review, and fraud or a payment dispute pauses them at once. Your team can still sign in, read the inbox and take incoming calls. You can ask for a review from the notice in the app and a person on our team reads every request. We may close accounts that commit fraud or put others at risk, and we may report illegal activity.
8. Reporting abuse
If a CallRoute number called or texted you in a way that breaks this policy, email us with the number, the date and what happened. You can also reply STOP to any text to stop getting texts from that number.
