Departments
Run every department from one account
Sales, support, a branch office: give each one its own space. A department admin runs it day to day, its main line rings the right people, and its wallet keeps its spending separate. The owner still buys numbers and seats for the whole company. Included on both plans.
A department admin
Make someone the admin of a department. They decide who holds each department number, who the main line rings and who joins, and see only their department's calls, inbox and analytics.
A main line that rings a team
Give the department one local or toll-free number callers can use. It rings up to 10 people, everyone at once or one by one for 20 seconds each, and goes to voicemail if nobody answers. $5 a month local or $8 toll-free, from the main wallet.
A wallet per department
Calls and texts past the plan and international calls come out of the department wallet. Top it up from the main wallet or with a card, set an automatic top up, or turn that off for a fixed budget.
Its own card, if you want
A department can pay for its own seats and top up its wallet with its own card. The owner still assigns the seats, and the department card is billed at the same price on the account's renewal date.
Forward calls when someone is away
Forward a number or a main line to a teammate until you turn it off, until the end of today or tomorrow, or until a set time. Texts stay where they are.
Hide your own number
When an admin allows it, a teammate can call out showing the department main line or the company line instead of their own number, for every call or with *67 for one call.
Ask for more numbers
A department admin can ask the owner for more numbers with a short note. The owner gets an email and marks the request done once the numbers are added.
Simple structure
Departments are one layer deep under the main account. Owners and admins work across the whole company, and plan minutes and texts are shared by everyone.

Departments: common questions
Which plans include departments?
Both Business and Business Plus. A department main line is $5 a month for a local number or $8 for toll-free, paid from your main wallet.
Can a department admin buy numbers or seats?
No. Buying numbers and seats stays with the owner and admins. A department admin can ask for more numbers, and can pay for the department with its own card once the owner gives it seats.
What happens if the department card is not paid?
CallRoute emails the owners, admins and department admins with the date the department pauses. If the card is still unpaid 7 days later, the department's outgoing calls and texts pause until a card pays.
