Words in brackets are placeholders. Fill in the fields to replace them, then read the script out loud with a timer before you record it.
How to use it
Pick a greeting type. Main line for open hours, after hours for when you are closed, holiday for closures, out of office for one person away, department for a team line, or personal for your own number.
Add your details. Business name, hours, time zone and when you will call back. Leave a field empty and the script keeps a placeholder in brackets.
Choose a tone. Friendly suits most service businesses. Formal suits law, finance and healthcare.
Copy, read aloud, then record. Read the script with a timer first. If it runs past 20 seconds, use the short version.
What every good greeting does
Confirms who the caller reached: the business, or the person and the business.
Says briefly why nobody answered.
Asks for name, number and the reason for the call.
Sets an honest expectation for the callback, and only promises what you can keep.
In CallRoute, every teammate has their own business number and greeting, and your main line has its own greetings for open hours, after hours and closed days. Paste a script as a typed greeting and it is spoken in the AI voice you pick, or record it yourself. Messages arrive as visual voicemail with transcripts, and the AI receptionist can answer when nobody picks up. See pricing or start a free trial.
