Calls

Caller ID and hiding your number

Show your department main line or the company line instead of your own number. Turn it on for every call on Profile, or dial *67 for one call.

When you call from CallRoute, people see your own business number by default. Teammates who call on behalf of a team can show a shared number instead: their department main line, or the company line if they are not in a department. Calling back reaches that line, not the person.

For owners and admins: set it up

  1. Make sure there is a number to show. Give the department a main line on the Departments page (see Set up departments), or pick a Company line there for people outside any department.
  2. On the Team page, tick the Hide number box next to each person who may hide their own number.

If someone tries to hide their number and neither line is set, the call ends with a short message asking them to ask an admin to set a department main line or a company line.

Hide your number on every call

  1. Select Profile in the sidebar.
  2. In Caller ID, tick Hide my number on calls.

The text under the box tells you which line people will see. The box only works once an admin has allowed you to hide your number.

Hide or show it for one call

  • Dial *67 before the number to hide your own number for that call.
  • Dial *82 before the number to show your own number for that call, even when Hide my number on calls is on.

Before you call, the phone confirms it, for example: Your number is hidden on this call: they see the Sales main line.

Calls and texts back

When someone calls the line they saw, it rings whoever that line rings: the department main line rings its list of people, and the company line follows its own call handling. To change who a main line rings, see Set up departments. For everything else about calling, see Make and receive calls.
