Numbers

Bring your existing number to CallRoute

Move numbers you already have from another provider. Callers keep dialing the same number, and your old service works until the move.

Moving a number to a new provider is called porting. In CallRoute it is Transfer numbers, on the Numbers page. Owners and admins can start one. Transfers usually take one to two weeks, and your current service keeps working until the number arrives.

What it costs

Moving a number in is $5 per number, one time, paid from your wallet when you send the transfer. If a number cannot move, its fee is refunded to your wallet. See The usage wallet to add funds first.

Have these ready

  • A recent bill from your current provider, from the last 30 days, as a PDF, JPG or PNG.
  • The name and service address on that account, exactly as printed on the bill.
  • The account number, and the transfer PIN if your provider uses one. Mobile carriers usually do.
  • The name and email of someone allowed to make changes on the account. They sign the authorization.

Start the transfer

  1. Select Numbers, then Transfer numbers in the Already have a number? card.
  2. In Numbers to move, type each number on its own line, then select Check numbers.
  3. Each number shows Can move, Can move, needs your transfer PIN, or a reason it cannot. Type the PIN next to any number that needs one.
  4. Fill in Your account with the current provider and Service address, copied exactly from your bill. A mismatch is the most common reason a transfer is turned down.
  5. Under Who signs the authorization, enter the full name and email of the account holder.
  6. Attach the bill with Choose file. Optional: pick a Preferred date, or leave it empty for the earliest one.
  7. In Numbers belong to, pick the teammate who should ring on these numbers once they arrive.
  8. Tick the authorization box and select Send transfer.

We then email the signer a short authorization. The transfer starts as soon as it is signed. You can also open it from the transfer card with Sign the authorization.

Track progress

Your transfers are listed at the top of the Transfer numbers page. Select Check status for the latest. While a number is on its way, the Numbers page shows Moving here from your current provider next to it.
