Calls

Make and receive calls in your browser

The Phone button in the corner of the app is your business phone. Call out from your number, answer calls and manage them from any browser.

CallRoute runs in your web browser, so there is nothing to install. The Phone button sits in the bottom right corner of every page. A green dot on it means you are ready for calls.

Get ready for calls

  1. Select Phone. When your browser asks, allow the microphone.
  2. Select Audio to choose your Microphone, Speaker and Ringtone. Use Test speaker to check you can hear. The bar under the microphone moves when it hears you.
  3. When CallRoute offers notifications for incoming calls, select Turn on. You then get an alert even when the tab is in the background.

Make a call

  1. Select Phone.
  2. If you have more than one number, pick the one to use in Call from. The person you call sees that number.
  3. Type the number, or an extension to reach a teammate. For another country, select the country above the number field first, or start with a plus sign.
  4. Select Call.

You can also call from anywhere you see a contact: select Call next to an entry on the Calls page, or Call at the top of an inbox conversation.

Calls within the US and Canada come out of your plan minutes. Calls to other countries are paid from your wallet. Before you dial, the phone shows the per minute rate, and tells you if your wallet does not have enough for a minute. See The usage wallet.

Answer a call

When someone calls your number, an Incoming call card appears with their name or number and which of your numbers they called. Select Answer or Decline. If you do not answer, the call follows the number's call handling, which by default is voicemail.

During a call

  • Mute and Unmute your microphone.
  • Hold puts the caller on hold, and Resume brings them back.
  • Keypad sends digits, for example to get through another company's phone menu.
  • Transfer hands the call to a teammate or another number. See Extensions and call transfers.
  • Record, Pause and Resume control recording on the Pro and Scale plans. See Call recording, transcripts and summaries.
  • Audio switches your microphone or speaker mid call.
  • End hangs up.

Live translation

On a call with a phone number, select Translate under Live translation to hear the other person in your language while they hear you in theirs. Set your language on the Profile page. Live translation costs $0.35 a minute from your wallet, on top of the call.

See your calls

The Calls page lists every call on your business numbers, newest first, with who answered and how long it lasted. Use All, Missed and Voicemail to filter, and pick a number in the sidebar to see only its calls. The top of the page shows how many plan minutes your team has used this month.
