Voicemail

Voicemail and greetings

Write or record what callers hear, then play every voicemail and read its transcript from the Calls page or the inbox.

When a call is not answered, it goes to the number's voicemail, unless you turned on the AI receptionist. Callers can leave a message of up to 3 minutes. Every voicemail gets a transcript, on every plan.

Set the voicemail greeting

  1. Select Numbers, then Call handling next to the number.
  2. In Voicemail greeting, type what callers should hear before the tone. Leave it empty to use the example shown in the box.
  3. Select Save at the bottom of the page.

Typed greetings are read in the voice picked under Voice at the top of the page. Choose Standard phone voice or one of the AI voices, and select Play sample to hear it. Saving with an AI voice takes a few seconds while the voice is prepared.

Use your own recording

Every greeting on the Call handling page, including the menu, after hours and closed day greetings, can be typed or recorded.

  1. Next to the greeting, switch from Type it to Use a recording.
  2. Select New recording.
  3. Select Record and speak, then Stop recording. Or select Upload a file. MP3, WAV, M4A and most audio files work, up to 3 minutes.
  4. Listen back, give it a name such as Main greeting, and select Save greeting.
  5. Select Save at the bottom of the page.

Saved recordings are shared across your workspace, so you can pick the same one on several numbers from the list, and select Play to check it. Switching back to Type it keeps your typed text.

Listen to voicemail

  • On the Calls page, select Voicemail to see only calls with a message. Each one shows the length and a player.
  • In the Inbox, the voicemail appears in the caller's conversation, next to their texts and other calls.
  • Select Transcript to read the message. It takes a minute or two after the call to appear.

Translate a voicemail

Transcripts are written in the language the caller spoke. To read it in another language, open the transcript, pick a language and select Translate for. It costs $0.02 per minute of audio from your wallet, and the price shows on the button first.

Call back

Select Call next to the voicemail on the Calls page, or Call at the top of the conversation, to ring the person back from your business number. Then select Mark done in the inbox so your team knows it is handled.
